Style me Vintage : Dress

Hi all,

Here is another vintage piece. This dress has a really cute back story that my great aunt told me when she gave it to me. She was going out on a date with a guy (I think it was quite a formal ball), anyway, she was 17 or 18 (I think) and she was approached by the guys mother. She helped her get ready for the ball, and gave her this dress which she had gotten specially for the occasion (a nice gesture!) Whilst getting ready for the ball, she had her hair done professionally, and they gave my her a perm! Quite a dramatic transformation just for a ball.
Anyway, this is the dress.

Style me Vintage : Little Navy Dress

Hi all,

Another vintage post, this dress is one in the collection of vintage items that I have. Its a knee length quite simple navy dress. It has boning in the bodice, which help it fit with a nice shape. I have to admit that the straps on it are quite far apart, and do have a tendency to fall off my shoulders when I wear it. It comes with a little lace jacket thing, to go over the top (I think that it is supposed to fasten at the back) Its got little shiny swarovski style crystals on it, which make it appropriate for evening wear.
Overall I really like this dress/outfit. I think it is quite cute and timeless.

Style me Vintage : Military style dress

Hi,

This Fink Modell dress is very militaristic looking, the striped fabric and buttons contribute to this feel. It has loops for a belt (which I couldn't find) without the belt it kind of looks like a sack, so I put a black belt on it, just to pull in the waist. It is in quite good condition, however there are a few little holes in the lining around the back. I hope these are not moth holes because all of the vintage pieces I have absolutely stink of moth balls. (Doesn't say much for the old moth balls!)...

Style me Vintage : Horrockses Dress

Hi,

Another vintage dress, this time a well known label.. Horrockses. Quite a simplistic style dress with a little area of lace up on the bodice. It has the traditional 50's silhouette that Horrockses was famous for, with a full gathered skirt. According to my great Aunt this dress was supposed to be worn with this striped braid belt. It certainly pops against the black and helps to pull in the waist of the dress. Here it is...

Style me Vintage : Jacket 2

Hi,
Another sparkly jacket. This one has lots of silver stitching and gold sequins on the whole of the surface. No fastenings so it hangs with quite a loose fit. Yeah.. that pretty much sums it up...

Style me Vintage : Belt

Hi,

This vintage piece is a belt that I am absolutely in love with. It has a little gold cherub with big butterfly style wings sitting on a mint turquoise green stretchy band. I think that this belt is soo cute. It goes really well with lots of things. That's something I love about vintage accessories, they can be used to bring so much personality and uniqueness to outfits and are much easier to get your hands on than vintage clothing.

Style me Vintage : Dress

Hi all,

This is one of my favourite vintage pieces that I own (again not sure of the exact dates). This blue dress by Parigi is so pretty on. The fabric drapes really well, I like the contrast between the very soft draping fabric and the more structured shoulders and waist band panel. There is quite a lot of fabric in this dress, making it kind of heavy to wear, but twirling allows the fabric to fly out (very fun!) Hope you like this one...

Style me Vintage : Jacket

Hi,

I have a little collection of some vintage garments that were given to me by my great aunt. They are from a few different decades, some of them I have no idea where they came from.
Here is a jacket that is.. very bright. It is completely bejazled with little reflective circles on the quite lightweight fabric. I have a feeling that this jacket dates to the 80's, just coming down to the shoulder pads (I am probably wrong) The jacket has some interesting features, there is some elastic in the waist which helps to give the jacket a bit of shaping, and the cuffs of the jacket have the cute buttons on them. It has lost a few of the circles in places, but generally it looks in good condition...
