Worlds Best Chocolate Chip Cookies (in my opinion)

Hi all,

So has anyone tried making chocolate chip cookies? Silly question : ) Well I went on the hunt for the perfect recipe, and I am pretty sure that this is it. The cookies are gooey on the inside, with a slight crispness around the outside.

Here is the recipe (give it a try if you don't trust me!):

Ingredients
Serves: 18
  1. 250g plain flour
  2. 1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  3. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  4. 170g unsalted butter, melted
  5. 200g dark brown soft sugar
  6. 100g caster sugar
  7. 2 teaspoons  vanilla extract
  8. 1 egg
  9. 1 egg yolk
  10. 325g chocolate chips (you can also make up the weight with combined chocolate, raisins, dried fruit and nuts)
Preparation method
Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 15 mins

Preheat the oven to 170 C / Gas mark 3. Grease baking trays or line with parchment.

Sift together the flour, bicarb and salt; set aside.

In a medium bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar and caster sugar until well blended. Beat in the vanilla, egg and egg yolk until light and creamy. Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon. Drop cookie dough onto the prepared baking trays, with each cookie around 1-2 desert spoons  of dough . Do not flatten the dough. Cookies should be about 8cm apart.

Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking trays for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

These make a really great gift for a friend or a teatime treat. Just try not to eat them all at once! :)

  1. Oh my goodness, these look amazing. My mom and I are constantly trying to find a good compromise between our cookie preferences-- she likes them entirely crunchy, I like them soft and melty. This might just be the perfect solution!

    1. Hehe, thanks. Yeah I prefer them quite soft and melty too. These ones are really good straight out of the oven! Good luck if you give them a go :) x
