Snow White and the Huntsman (costumes)

Hi all,

So last night I went and saw Snow White and the Huntsman. I had really wanted to see the other Snow White film 'Mirror Mirror', but I never got round to it. This version did not disappoint. I thought it was amazing. The costumes were breath taking, designed by oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood. I loved the dress that Kristen wore (that kind of got trashed by the end) The sleeves were amazing, with the puffed slashed upper, and the tight medieval style lower. The evil queen Ravena (played by Charlize) had some amazing costumes. Here are some pictures I managed to find.
Great video of Colleen talking about the costumes (comes in two parts):

Snow White in the enchanted forest. This was my favourite set, there were amazing plants with eyes, and fairies. It was so pretty.

The green spikes on this dress are actually green beetle wings!

Snow White costume sketch (post cutting of the skirt)
Black feather cloak (screams McQueen!) The raised neckline is amazing, very empowering.

The close up detail of this is spectacular. It reminds me of things that McQueen would design, very inspired by nature, but using it like armour.
I loved this take on the crown, with the metal chains (in the disney version she had a white fabric hanging down) And that crown is amazing also.
Ravena's wedding dress, the sleeves and bodice are truly amazing.

  1. I was blown away by the costumes too! I loved how they reinterpreted the drapes of fabric on the queen's hood in the Disney movie into delicate chains. I loved the first forest sequence, too, it's a perfect update to the original!

I gave you the Versatile Blogger award in my latest post! Feel free to check it out.
